چکیده

Introduction: The oral cavity and the teeth are frequently subjected to numerous physiological pH variations, mainly due type of diet. These changes main cause enamel demineralization consequent breakage under mechanical forces. This causes severe sensitivity sometimes pain, which endures unless hard tissue is remineralized. Since does not self-repair, application alloplastic materials that have property releasing remineralizing ions strongly recommended. aim this in vitro study evaluate effectiveness two different toothpastes a fluoride varnish prevention demineralization, their ability remineralize after it has undergone several acidifications. Methods: Eight human with no caries or defects were prepared. acid attack simulations performed using commercial cola carbonated drink. Samples immersed 5 mL soft drink for minutes at room temperature, then rinsed distilled/deionized water. immersion process lasted about 2 min, was repeated four times total eight minutes. Then, types toothpaste, one without fluoride, applied surfaces samples off demineralized A second acidification cycle carried out, subsequent reapplication three products protect against demineralization. SEM profilometer analysis out results. Results: statistical showed good remineralization capacity all products, especially fluoride-varnish-treated samples. However, regarding protection from non-fluoride toothpaste found be ineffective, while produced positive Conclusions: Dental professionals should advise varnishes over toothpastes. Fluoride represent valid treatment surface first an environment, such as can develop cavity.

Our teeth are constantly subjected to erosion caused by the action of food and drinks (1). These aggressions result in the exposure of dentinal tubules and the underlying nerves to the external environment. Consequently, external stimuli trigger the nerves causing a short and acute pain clinically defined as dental hypersensitivity (2). Individuals with this condition present tooth with open de...
